The Seattle Civic Dance Theatre is a non-profit company based at Fauntleroy School House Community Center

Our Mission

The dance company provides a performing outlet for talented local dancers and culturally enriches the community and the city-at large through professionally oriented performances and activities.

During the year, our dancers perform free of charge at functions for various civic and private groups. SCDT also Produces two large scale fundraiser performances each year. The company provides dancers the opportunity to perform on a professional level, exposes them to the community, peer stimulation and ready's them for auditions, jobs, scholarships and other outlets for their talents and skills.

Ages of the company range from 14 years through adult. Beside school aged children, we also believe that older dancers need opportunities to perform beyond their school years and encourage them to do so.

In addition to improving health and developing motor skills, fortitude and fun, dance provides constructive interaction, patience with one’s self and others, plus the ability to listen and follow instruction
— Kim Dinsmoor, SCDT Creative Director

Many of our concert dancers have gone on to dance professionally, teach dance and get jobs in their communities that further others in the arts. All of our concert dancers provide excellent role models in their respective dance schools and involve themselves in their community by volunteering their services at various outlets.

The concert dancers host fund raisers, such as Ballerina Birthday parties, Ballet baby-sitting and Family Fun Night that provide them pointe shoes, monies for dance scholarship, costuming for their performances as well as other costs involved in putting on professional programs.

Seattle Civic Dance Theatre is a 501(c) (3) company and welcomes donations to further its purpose to bring fine art to the community.
